Gas compressor case studies in Pakistan

How GenCom keeps planned maintenance on schedule, keeps critical spares on the shelf, and brings obsolete control panels back up to current specification.

The pattern

Most of this work is planned.

Operators rarely call us because something has already failed. They call us ahead of a preventive maintenance window, to replenish critical spares before the shelf runs down, or to upgrade a control panel that the OEM no longer supports. All three have the same enemy: the factory lead time is around 14 weeks, and a maintenance window will not wait that long.

Field record

Four jobs, and what they took.

Preventive maintenance

Main bearings on site in 17 days, against a 12 week OEM lead time

A state owned exploration and production company needed main half shell sleeve bearings for an Ariel JGR frame compressor at a northern Pakistan field, ahead of planned maintenance. Ariel's standard lead time for parts is twelve weeks. GenCom quoted four weeks.

  • Quotation issued and the purchase order placed the same day
  • Ten Genuine Ariel half shell main bearings supplied
  • Signed delivery note at the field seventeen days after the order
  • The maintenance window went ahead on its original date

Planned overhaul

Every valve position on a two stage compressor, in one consignment

For the ENCOP-3 gas compressor at Engro Fertilizers' Daharki plant, GenCom supplied a complete first and second stage suction and discharge valve package: valves, repair kits, retainer gaskets and wafer springs. Ordering every position together is what a planned overhaul needs, and what avoids a second shipment halfway through the job.

  • Seven line items covering both compressor stages in a single shipment
  • Delivered inside the framework agreement lead time
  • Supplied under a multi year agreement with Engro, now running to 2027
  • Genuine Ariel parts with OEM documentation throughout

Control panel upgrade

An obsolete compressor panel replaced with a programmed Centurion C5

Pakistan Oilfields Limited needed the control panel on the T Unit gas compressor at Khaur brought up to current specification. GenCom supplied a programmed FW Murphy Centurion C5 panel, built to an agreed control philosophy and delivered with its cause and effect chart, so the protection logic was documented rather than assumed.

  • Control philosophy agreed with the customer before the panel was built
  • Programmed FW Murphy Centurion C5 panel, United States origin
  • Cause and effect chart supplied with the panel
  • Installation and commissioning supervision offered alongside the supply

Stock replenishment

Consumable kits from the United States to a running plant in 21 days

Lube oil filter element kits for a running compressor are a stock out risk: the machine keeps consuming them whether or not the next order has landed. GenCom imported, cleared and delivered a batch to Engro's Daharki plant in twenty one days from the purchase order, customs included.

  • Ariel shipped from Ohio the day after the order was placed
  • Import, customs clearance and site delivery handled by GenCom
  • Signed delivery note twenty one days after the purchase order
  • Delivered duty paid in local currency, so the plant had no import work to do

Why it matters

Plan the work, not the wait.

The common thread in all four jobs is timing. A preventive maintenance window, a stock level and a panel upgrade are all planned in advance, and all of them fail the same way: the parts arrive after the window has closed.

  • Tell us your maintenance window, not just the part you need
  • We hold Ariel and FW Murphy stock inside Pakistan
  • No part number needed to start a quotation
  • Import, customs and delivery handled end to end
